How come guitarists rarely do bends anymore?

It gets on my nerves actually. The styles of younger guitarists has
gotten so divided that it's almost black and white now. There's the
clean strumming indie guitarists and the sweeping metal guitarists.
These 2 styles don't really do bends at all.

I love doing long sustaining bends with overdrive and delay. It just
seems like nobody plays with passion anymore. It's like every
guitarist is trying to fit into a niche and that's it. They don't
have their own unique style or do anything outside the box.

I also attribute this to the huge gap between rock genres now.
Because of these black and white guitarists there's a bunch of soft
indie bands and super heavy metal bands. Not a lot of original bands
are making heavier rock music that's also commercially friendly with
good hooks like Nirvana and Van Halen.
